Gem on the Island. Perfect location
Dec 6, 2024
We booked this hotel as part of our Honeymoon.
- Sina Flora is arguably in the best location on the island. A one minute walk (if that) into the hustle and bustle of Capri streets, the famous shopping street, the main square, and the funicular (train) that takes you up and down to the port.
Despite this, that short walk means you are away from the crowds to enjoy a completely silent nights sleep, and restful days round the pool.
It also has a beautiful sea view and views over gardens and the monastery. If you love cats, there’s a colony of cats that live in the gardens and the small street to the right of the hotel. They get fed each morning and evening so you will see them gather.
The hotels location is also a great centre point for many different places (beach clubs, walks etc) ranging from 16 mins to 45 mins.
- Sina Flora organised collection of our luggage from the ferry for 16 EUR per bag, and honestly it could not have been a smoother process. When arriving in 30 degree heat, in busy Capri, with it’s hills to navigate, trust us, it’s worth it.
A gentleman was waiting for us the moment we stepped off the ferry, took our bags, directed us to the Funicular up to Capri, and our bags were at reception before we got there.
- Our room at Sina Flora was very large, bright and spacious. It’s a shame we didn’t have any sort of balcony or outside space, and it made drying our swimwear etc difficult, but overall, the room was fantastic. The bathroom was lovely and modern (yet fitting with Italy)
- The team at the hotel were incredibly helpful when we requested a couple of bookings. They secured us beds at a very popular beach club with ease, and despite not being able to get us a table at a restaurant, they still tried, and let us know very soon after we first asked. We didn’t book anything else, but are confident that if we had asked, they would have helped us without hesitation.
- Upon arrival, we were welcomed nicely, and the two guys on check in gave us some information about sites / walks / things to see and information on the hotel, breakfast times etc. We had some drinks whilst we waited for our room to be ready and were kept up to date on how long this would be etc.
- The grounds and building of Sina Flora are great. A real Italian charm to it, but modern and well kept. Breakfast is lovely and looking over the pool / sea each morning really was lovely. Breakfast was nice, it had lots of options, however if you particularly like a full hot breakfast, there were only eggs, bacon and sausage type product in the buffet. Otherwise, there’s pancakes, yoghurts, fruits (strawberries in particular weren’t that great sometimes), pastries, bread, cakes etc.
We felt that the hotel could have gone *just* that little but further to make it a lovely stay. As mentioned, this was our honeymoon, and we spent significantly more on a hotel then we usually would. The hotel was aware of this being a honeymoon as we stated it upon booking. A welcome or congratulatory note in our room with some pastries / fresh fruits / flowers / prosecco… something of that kind, would have been a lovely touch upon arrival. Something which is very common across hotels, even at a lower price point.
Overall, a gem on the island.
A FABOULOUS HOTEL
Oct 7, 2024
My husband and I went to Capri with close friends of ours. The Sina Flora was simply wonderful. Our room, the view of the sea, the large lobby, pool side with beautiful flowers and trees. You can have lunch inside or out. They have a small bar if you want a cocktail. The staff is so nice and helpful. It made our stay on Capri even better. Would definitely return.
The hotel is very well located in the heart of Capri near the Quisisana hotel. It could be a great hotel but our experience was really disappointing.
Arrival: My husband wrote to the hotel the day before to inform that we will arrive by private boat and asked to organize luggage transfer. The hotel responded « Please inform us about the departure time of the hydrofoil you will get from Naples to Capri, so once in Capri our representative, will welcome you, he will take care of the luggage and he will tell you how to reach the hotel. This service is free of charge except for the transportation of the bags, that costs € 16,00 per bag. ». My husband replied to repeat that we will arrive by private boat around 17:30 and we will confirm the exact arrival time 30 min before.
On the day of our arrival, he wrote as planned to confirm our arrival at 17:30. Then the hotel called him to say that we could then take a taxi to get to the hotel (no more ‘free of charge’ welcoming representative!), but the worst is that they did NOT explain that the taxi drop off is 450 m away from the hotel through very busy sloppy pedestrian streets. We had no assistance at all for our luggage, we explained our disappointment when we finally arrived, and the receptionists asked us to talk to the manager Antonio on the following day. We did that but instead of a simple apology and the despite my husband showing the email exchanges, the manager refused to recognize our inconvenience.
Boat rental: I asked the receptionists for information to rent a private boat to do an island private tour and have lunch in a particular beach club. They told me it was impossible to go to this beach club Il Riccio by private boat. Fortunately, I didn’t believe this information because I’ve had done that before. And we booked a boat with another company and arrived to Il Riccio by boat. Incredible that the receptionists provide wrong information to the guests!
Breakfast: Expresso coffee was decent but cappuccino was awful. I’ve ordered one on the first day and could not drink it.
Fresh fruits, cold cuts and cheese and pancakes were the only fresh things of the breakfast.
Bread was not good; it was bread from the supermarket. All juices and cakes were not home-made.
The scrambled eggs were the worst I’ve tried in my life. For un extra cost they had omelettes but since scrambled eggs were awful, I’ve chosen going having breakfast somewhere else.
The hotel facilities are old. Hairdryers in the rooms are very small, useless for women. I’ve asked for another one, and they gave me an old and noisy one but at least more powerful… The hotel has 2 buildings connected via an unusual way in the basement. We had to walk and climb stairs up and down to arrive to our room. If you have a disability you must take that into account. At the checkout, they charged us for snacks and soft drinks that we didn’t consume. When we explained that we didn’t consume that, they removed from our bill but the lady was rude and did not apologize for their mistake. The reception team in general was rude, not smily, I guess they don’t receive any training. They’re a shame compared to the Italian hospitality that we’re used to.
In my option, this is an hotel to avoid. I would recommend to go to La Residenza hotel located next door, for almost the same price, you’ll have a better experience.
