Why choose da Paolino in Capri?

Looking for the best restaurant in Capri? There are so many great places to eat on the island that it's difficult to choose just one, but da Paolino restaurant certainly ranks right at the top. It’s renowned for its excellent food and wine served beneath Capri's fragrant lemon trees, an outdoor seating ambiance unmatched on the island.

Citrus trees and celebrities

Over the years many Hollywood stars, movie directors, fashion designers, and jet-set celebrities have made da Paolino their Italian restaurant of choice for dining under the lemon trees. The restaurant’s guest book, which goes back to 1978, is like a who’s who of each decade.

A family tradition

Generation after generation, the De Martino family has been serving Caprese island cuisine to both locals and visitors.

A traditional meal at da Paolino starts off with an appetizer of mixed vegetable and seafood antipasti, followed by the catch of the day, and accompanied by any of a superb selection of the Campania region's wines.

A friendly heads-up to anyone on a diet: da Paolino's celebrated dessert buffet, piled high with deliciously sweet concoctions, has achieved legendary status on the island—and beyond!

A truly special event

Da Paolino is the perfect choice for everyone who loves traditional island cooking. This very special Italian restaurant is the perfect location for a luxurious wedding reception, banquet, or even a refined dinner with colleagues after an important meeting.

Within easy walking distance of Marina Grande, the restaurant is just short taxi ride from the center of Capri and Anacapri. Those travelling from the Amalfi Coast or Naples can book the restaurant's "Fast Boat Transfer".

In spring and fall the restaurant is also open for lunch. On Sundays it offers brunch with traditional Campania dishes. The Lemon Garden Bar is open every day starting at 5 pm for anyone who wants to enjoy the atmosphere, even just for a drink.

I chose to ignore the negative reviews on here and book this restaurant for our first night in Capri. Two stars is only because the service was very good and the staff were very pleasant. The food was below average and the worse we had on our entire trip. Like the reviews state the price they charge here for what you get isn’t acceptable. €50 for spaghetti bolognaise that is so below average. There are so many nice restaurants in Capri it’s really not worth it even with being surrounded by the Lemon trees

Overpriced and Underwhelming

Dinner under lemon trees....what could be nicer while in Capri? In reality, this was one of the worst dining experiences we had while in Italy. First of all, the restaurant is so difficult to access, you will need to take an expensive taxi or risk your life walking along a busy road to get there. When we arrived, it was raining and there was only one very crowded bar area to sit waiting for the restaurant to open. We ended up standing in the rain under our umbrellas. The restaurant doesn't look as it is portrayed in the pictures. It has very bright lighting and felt like a cafeteria. It was cold, damp and uninviting. The service was confusing, we were hounded to order then our waiter disappeared and we were left waiting to order another drink, which never arrived. The wait staff was more interested in visiting with each other or friends who were dining in the restaurant than doing their jobs. If all of this wasn't enough, the prices on the menu were astronomical. Please know that I am not a cheap person. I have happily paid a fair price to eat at expensive restaurants, but to charge what they do to eat in a glorified cafeteria with poor service is a crime. There are lots of quaint places to eat on Capri, do yourself a favour and find one instead of eating here.

After the beautiful lemon trees this restaurant is just ok. Service mediocre. Food average. Very large outside restaurant. There appeared to be covered areas in the dining area but it was dry when we visited. Bring bug spray as it was very buggy. Also taxi drop requires a little walk to the restaurant.
